Whether you walk, bike, skip, hop, ride transit, or drive a car - downtown has fun for everyone! There are a number of ways to get to and from the Downtown area, where you can use the People Mover’s 13 stations for unlimited, free, quick rides with great views around downtown Detroit. Here’s how to begin your travels on public transportation in the region.

MOBILITY FOR ALL

The greater Detroit area offers a network of public transportation services which provide mobility options within the City of Detroit and nearby suburbs. Transit systems continuously work together for the good of the community, keeping commuters, students and seniors on the move seven days a week. Plan your trip downtown and beyond with us and coordinate the nearest rides on these systems.

QLINE Detroit Streetcar

QLINE - The QLINE is a free 6.6-mile circulating streetcar loop serving 12 locations on Woodward Ave. from Downtown Detroit through Midtown, New Center and the North End.

Connect to the People Mover from these stations:

MoGo Bike Share

MoGo - MoGo is Detroit’s bike share system, featuring a growing community network of on-demand bicycles and self serve stations. Connect to the People Mover from these stations:

DART Regional Passes

DART is the regional pass which enables riders to pay one fare for seamless transfers between DDOT and SMART buses as well as the QLINE. Now you can board any route and go in any direction.

Available in 4-Hour, 24-Hour, 7-Day and 31-Day passes, DART is can be purchased in full fare or reduced fare for students, seniors and people with disabilities. Ride unlimited on one or all of these systems during the time presented on the pass or by using the Token Transit App.

SMART Bus System

SMART Bus - SMART is Southeast Michigan’s regional public bus system. Connect to the People Mover from these stations: Michigan, Greektown, Renaissance Center, Financial District  

DDOT Bus System

DDOT Bus System - DDOT primarily serves the city of Detroit, with additional limited service to nearby cities of Dearborn, Hamtramck, Highland Park, Harper Woods, Livonia, Redford Township, River Rouge and Southfield.  

DDOT routes connect with the People Mover at these stations:

  • Millender Center (Beaubien & Jefferson): #3 Grand River  

  • Fort / Cass (Lafayette & Cass): #1 Vernor, #27, #29 

  • Broadway (Randolph, Jefferson, Washington to Michigan): #6 Gratiot, #40 Russell 

  • Grand Circus Park & Cadillac (Woodward Ave.): #4 Woodward  

  • Greektown, Bricktown & RenCen (Larned & Brush): #7 Cadillac / Harper      

  • Bricktown (Lafayette & Beaubien): #5 Van Dyke / Lafayette ;

  • Renaissance Center (Jefferson & Beaubien): #9 Jefferson , #92, #96

Transit Windsor

Transit Windsor Tunnel Bus - Transit Windsor operates a cross-border service through the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel, seven days a week to downtown Detroit (proof of citizenship required). The Tunnel Bus route includes Huntington Place, Rosa Parks Transit Center, and Hart Plaza.

Special Event service travels to all concerts and home games at Comerica Park, Ford Field and Little Caesars Arena.

The Tunnel Bus connects with the People Mover at these stations:

  • Times Square (from the Rosa Parks Transit Center)

  • Michigan

  • Fort/Cass

  • Financial District

  • Huntington Place

  • Millender Center

Ann Arbor Express (D2A2)

D2A2 is a pilot express bus service connecting Detroit and Ann Arbor, MI seven days a week. The bus service is an idea created by the Regional Transit Authority of Southeast Michigan (RTA), in partnership with the Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority (TheRide) and operated by Michigan Flyer. Tickets may be purchased on line or at the bus stop with discounts for eligible seniors or passengers with disabilities.

Boarding is located on Park Street, across from the DPM Grand Circus Park Station.

Airport Express (DAX)

Introducing the Detroit Air Xpress, DAX for short. Now you can go straight from DET to DTW, with the first nonstop express service between the two. 365 days a year. 16 round-trips daily - and steps from the Detroit People Mover stations!

The bus service launched in 2024, created by the Regional Transit Authority of Southeast Michigan (RTA) and operated by Michigan Flyer. Tickets may be purchased on line or at the bus stop with discounts for eligible seniors or passengers with disabilities.

Boarding is located on Washington Avenue between State and Michigan, just about a block east of the Michigan Station and a block south of Times Square Station!
