STATUS UPDATE: Crews working to restore Detroit People Mover service
(DETROIT) 3/20/26 – Detroit Transportation Corporation’s maintenance and operations teams are continuing their round-the-clock work to restart the Detroit People Mover .
The system closed the afternoon of March 13 following hours of high winds which deposited both light and heavy debris on the guideway track. Once it was safe for crews to walk all elevations of the system, they performed multiple inspections. As repair activities continue to the impacted sections, DPM will reopen following operational testing of all components. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience during this downtime. Safety is our top priority, and we are making every effort to restore service to our riders.
